No Shore in Sight

If you can stay in the midst of the turmoil unperplexed and calm because you see Jesus, that is God’s plan in your life. Not that you may be able to say, ‘I have done this and now it’s alright.’ We have an idea that God is leading us to a certain goal, a desired haven. He is not. To God the question of our getting to a particular end is a mere incident.

What men call the process, God calls the end. God’s purpose is that you depend upon him and his power now. God’s purpose for you is that you see him walking on the waves. No shore in sight. No success. Just the absolute certainty that it is alright because you see him.

Oswald Chambers (1874-1917)

Notes from the Compiler

Oswald Chambers was Scottish born, and a Baptist evangelist who had a way with words; for instance: 'God won't do for you what you can do for yourself.' He hated hypocrisy. His best known devotional book sold 13 million copies: 'My Utmost for His Highest.'
